    Where can I run?

Coming from MTB, I've got a good idea of where I can / can't ride. What about on foot?
Eg, at my dad's there's a decent loop I can put together using FPs, BWs and back roads, but there's an extra climb I chuck in which isn't marked on the map. There is a FP across the bottom of the field, but not to the top of the hill. I had understood you can go anywhere except crops, MOD and over drystone walls, common sense really but I suspect it's not that simple!
Dad is moving to another town shortly so I have to string a loop together again, so any advice appreciated.

unless it's access land then you have to stick to public rights of way (bridleways, footpaths etc).

    ....it's all downhill from here.

Handy link, cheers. Access land being the Lake District NP, for example?

Sorry, that's not the same thing. A National Park may have areas of access land within it's boundaries, just like none National Park areas have Access land.

This map, on the 'zoom control" 1:25000 setting (right hand side), shows Access land boundaries by circling them with a light brown margin. See Latrigg just to the north-east of Keswick for example.

    Hope that helps.

That does help, cheers. My 1:25000 OS maps are years old and don't appear to have those boundaries marked.
