I'm really enjoying following his progress . I've re-read some of Steve's book again too. Can't believe that was 5 years ago!

Looks like he's 3 hours up after Great Mell Fell. It's about 4 hours to the end of the next section so presuming he will push on and sleep after Bowscale Fell. I think they should be able to get the camper van up the valley.

Yep he kipped at the top of the valley, so a small section up on Steve.

Currently 3h15 up at Meal Fell, give or take.

Really quite frustrated to be at work this week - I was there for the whole week during Steve's round and it was fantastic.

Further to the warm weather comment earlier, he set off steadier than Steve (his first leg was a bit quick in the humidity, I was on support and it was warm - and he threw up on Leg 3) so maybe some better pace management, as well as utilisation of poles from the off by Paul.

Now appears to be a smidge under 4h up on Steve's time. Lost quite a bit up to Skiddaw, but gaining a couple of minutes on other legs. I seem to remember ice creams making an appearance this time 5 years ago!

A little write-up on the attempt by a site with a focus Paul's former sport Hurling. He played for the Cork Minor team.
Good "pic" of a teenage Paul in action.

Time for Paul to start cursing Wainwright for including Binsey in the Northern Fells book.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

if there's one thing Paul REALLY excels at, it's cursing.

When I first came over here I was "F"ing all the time, it was just the way I spoke. I got shamed out if it by all these middle class English lads on my degree course.

I've been dot watching all day. Incredibly impressive stuff. Those road miles out to Binsey must have been hellish. Just the whole of the NW fells to finish off now... 🙄

He's now almost 7 hours up on Steve's splits and only 8 summits to go!
