Going downhill fast
Hope she makes a full recovery and well done to the dogs.
Super ending to what could easily of been a tragic story. I was up on Kinder Downfall with Beau dog today recce of the Fell Race. I went over a little on my ankle. No injury but it did get me thinking what would happen if I did get injured. I did have a phone, bivvi bag and full body cover. I don't think Beau would know what to do. I doubt he would of run off to find help haha
I have often pondered this scenario as fell runs are usually just me and the dog. He is a super loyal chap who would follow me anywhere and I doubt he would go for help. In fact, if anything it would be quite the contrary - he'd probably stay and protect me from any would be rescuer getting anywhere near me! At least he would help keep the hypothermia at bay for a while..
Nice story. I think my dog would stay right next to me, shivering and waiting for me to throw her stick.
I did tell MrRTS where I was going today. So, if I didn't return he would know where to look. There is a problem with this scenario too.
MrRTS (shouting) Where are you. Beau. come on boy.
Beau Dog - (ears pick up as he lays next to me). Is that my Dad? (MrRTS is his favourite. I'm not bitter, just telling it like it is). Dad, Dad, we are here! (off he runs towards the hubby's voice).
MrRTS - (hugging the dog) Good boy, good boy! Where is mum?
Beau Dog - Who? Errrrrrr, this way, no this way. Bugger I forgot.
End of story!
