Does anybody know what trainers Rory Stewart wore when he did one of his vlogs? Claws or Talons or Walshes?
Will Boris be wearing Inov8 or in some fancy Hoka?
if you think that's the last of him....
(15th April)Anyway, I am done here. I thought people might be actually interested in the desparate state of the macroeconomics of the EU
....it's all downhill from here.
I think this thread is a snapshot of society today.
A very small, but vocal minority of "righteous bigots" throw continuous slurs at people who voice opinions they disagree with.
I use that term because those people are so confident of their own view, of how worthy it is, and so intolerant of an opposing view.
The adjudicators, in this case our mods, if they ever take any action, tend to display a bias / sympathy towards the righteous bigots and are at times joining in with them.
Ironically, the views being challenged by the righteous bigots are held by a large section of society or in this case the forum, sometimes even by a majority.
The problem this creates is seen with the likes of Tommy Robinson. The righteous bigots in cases such as the Rochdale Three Girls case have tried to bury the bad news, because it ran against the narrative that they were trying to promote.
This was so engrained in to the establishment that recently Nazir Afzal, the prosecutor in the Rochdale case, advised how the Brown Government urged police forces across the UK not to investigate the grooming gangs.
"‘as far as these young girls who are being exploited in towns and cities, we believe they have made an informed choice about their sexual behaviour and therefore it is not for you police officers to get involved in.’”
Somehow we need to get back to debating, disagreeing, moving on. The abuse has to end or it just pushes the few people still prepared to put forward a point of view to a more extreme position.
More importantly, it shuts the majority out of the debate as they are frightened by the aggressive nature of the few.
I know, because people have approached me and advised such.

Your post above is hilarious; you should try irony more often
This is a forum for fellrunners (they’re the people with studded shoes who run up and down hills). It is not an Oxbridge debating society or a right wing think tank (or left wing for that matter)
I am sure I’ve posted this before but I think the decline of the forum is a real shame. People have drifted away over the years and in several cases are no longer with us. I met my wife through the forum and most of the people involved in my 2011 Bob Graham here. It’s with a heavy heart I log on now, dreading to see a handful of posts with nothing, or very little about actual running, nothing to make me smile, very little actually posted by people I feel I’d actually like to meet and go for a run with (we used to do that too); just a handful of largely anonymous posters squabbling about politics in a wretched repetitive manner
I have not posted for a month and to be honest have no idea how to moderate what I see posted on here now; I wouldn’t know where to start apart from to ban discussing politics. I’m on another forum relating to a different hobby of mine. It’sinvite only. People use their own names. The moderators don’t have to moderate. Politics is strictly off limits. It’s a breath of fresh air. The forumites have fun and when you meet them in real life it’s great
Anyway I am signing off. Not this post but for good. Thanks for ruining the last vestiges of what used to be fun for many people too

I suppose people are gone lazy and facebook has become a single point for various topics, I have it for my (very rare) public postings, a bit of chat with family members, Pennine Fell Runners group, IMRA group, groups for my kids football and canoeing.
But for some reason the FRA group has never caught my interest, I guess it has just too many posting and no structure to the posting, it is a far inferior platform to on here. It would appear that convience outweights structure.
Maybe I have to force myself to like it.
