    Flying Fellrunners

I wonder who will be the first fellrunner to travel to a race via the new Carlisle Lake District Airport which opens today?
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

Our dear, late friend and clubmate Stevie Cliff held a PPL and a part share in a light aircraft which he often landed on the Earl of Lonsdale's private airstrip at Lowther Castle, near to the Cliff residence at Shap. I guess that "trumps" anyone taking a commercial flight into or out of CLA.
I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!

I know of at least a couple of people who have flown in for the Jura race.

You have to be a little careful about where you put your tent. I saw someone get very alarmed in a campervan one year that was 20 yards beyond the end of the (not very obvious) landing strip.
