Although Christianity was used as the main focal point for the narrative it's only because that was the common jumping off point for the Male caucasian British writing team. Their skill was to illuminate how such cults come about but would be totally transferable to any other. For sandal and gourd read christianity and Islam. Or catholic and protestant. Or liverpool and man utd. A fanatical devotion to an identified leader embellished with physical props or tropes. It's just part of our subconscious drive to self and group identify.

I might be wrong, but I think the only two posters to mention Brexit this month so far are Travs and GeoffB on the entire forum.

    I find that quite amusing

Low self-confidence? I think you are confusing me with someone else.

As Joan Baez said (but not on the occasion when she asked to change seats with me on a flight to Seville)"if you've got an opinion, why be humble about it?"

Let's fact check that, shall we?
Using the forum's search facility, the most frequent mentions of "Brexit", apart from on this thread come from none other than you, WP, on 16/11 on the Brexit thread and 23/11 and 27/11 on the GE2019 thread.

Both MattPo and Dangermouse mentioned the word on 04/10.

Is there nothing Brexiters won't actually lie about?
    ....it's all downhill from here.

Thanks for the fact check which shows I was correct as Travs has already pointed out.

An apology for the accusation of lying will be accepted if forthcoming.

Oh I’m sure it will be. Remainers are well known for admitting when they’ve got it completely wrong. Like forecasts of impending doom just by voting to leave that never happened for example.
