They don't believe in equality they just want to stuff it down everyone else's throats.

Won't someone think of the poor under-represented white middle-aged man.

They already have: there was a celebrated discrimination case last year that cheshire police lost, discriminating against a white male caucasian applicant with impeccable credentials , in favour of restricting to an all BAME candidate short list. So how are labours "female only labour MP shortlists" not illegal in the UK?

The leadership race exemplifies why labour appear to be so useless...

Surely it should be the best candidate regardless of sex? If 4 of the best 5 candidates are female that is no issue. But it seems that a significant proportion of the Labour party feel that the next leader "should" be female, regardless of capability.

For what it's worth, the best candidate would actually appear to be the bloke.

I'd say the best candidate would appear to be a bloke and not standing (probably realising it's a poison chalice this time round) or a woman who lost her seat at the GE and so can't stand

I'm not sure it's just a Labour phenomenon. We had the same discussion with the Tories, who had a balance of men and women, and that was commented on by the media at the time. But yes, you're right it should be who's best for the role.

And I agree. It will be interesting to see if Labour realise the aim is to get into power - not to please most Labour party members. I'd quote Tony Blair but that probably wouldn't help.

    But there is the paradox.
The "labour" that gets to decide are the "labour party members" who therefore vote to please themselves, not to please the "labour voters" who can put them in power. Worse still the left own the communication channels to members, and momentum are recommending Long Bailey in a non democratic democratic vote. As recently as last week Long Bailey stated last week they would not "compromise with the electorate" on policy.

    They are scr*w*d.
