    Winter Wainwrights

At a Paul Tierney film/ talk yesterday and he said someone's having a winter attempt at the wainwrights loop starting this weekend, with an eye to having a pop at the record proper in the summer.
Apparently a mountaineer, not a member of the fell running community, so he doesn't know much about it.
Any word on UKC forums or elsewhere, or is it pretty low key?
Given Steve B's recovery from his round, and that Paul's still feeling a bit off after his, 2 goes in one year strikes me as ambitious/foolhardy (delete as appropriate) but good luck to them!

    .........
8 years ago - mid-winter's day 2011 - a top runner failed to get round the BG but two members of Cockermouth MRT managed sub 24 hours in full winter mountaineering / walking kit. It was full-on winter conditions with arm-pit deep snow on the tops around Wasdale. A case of horses for courses.

If it's a Saturday kick-off, he might miss the very worst by starting in the West - the amber weather warning is more focussed along the spine of the country.

I was a bit of an oddball until I was abducted by aliens; but I'm perfectly OK now!

It looks like he started at 7:14 this morning (Sunday) according to his tracker, I suppose he reckons the worst of the weather is past. I’ve never heard of him, Ellis Brigham have this in their website however: https://www.ellis-brigham.com/dom-ainsley

Good to see Dom is still out there and making progress, the winds are dropping now ( Pretty damned blustery @0600 this morning and that was at 800ft so it must have been pretty wild higher up) and so far where i am in the lakes the rain is holding off. so all in all the conditions with the right kit shouldn`t be to arduous for him although Frequent heavy Squally snow showers and a windchill of minus 20 is in the forecast and I reckon that is plenty to contend with.

he was last tracked @ 10-20 on Great Gable.

For my part I have got to hand it to him for having a crack at it.

Cleared Kirk Fell at 11-05 total time taken 27-37-43 I think that's something like 10 hrs down on Steve or Paul but given the conditions Dom is encountering that imo is pretty damned impresssive

Thanks for that I will enjoy comparing the times but am very mindfull that they are two very different sets of prevailing conditions.
