    Pickle juice

Anyone got any experience with pickle juice when racing? I suffer terribly from cramp in long races and nothing has helped in the past. Seems like pickle juice is the thing. There are numerous products online but they're all costaplenty. Does anyone have any experience of making their own?

    Hi neilly

    https://eletewater.co.uk/

This stuff is pretty good for hydration - I suffer a lot with cramp and this keeps it at bay. If you get one of the smallest bottle plus a big one you can top the small one up and take it on runs.

Travs has mentioned this before I think

No probs 👍🏼 - it’s good stuff as it makes anything into an electrolyte drink and pickle juice might take a bit of getting ‘used to’

I've always found cramp (in my case) to be caused by extreme fatigue over an extended period (4hrs+), and attempts at solving with liquid/salt/sugar/etc have sadly been inferior to resting and then carrying on very catiously!

Definitely not a spoof. Apparently there's evidence that shows drinking 75ml of pickle juice at the onset of exercise induced cramp reduces the severity and duration significantly. Something to do with the sour taste confusing your brain and blocking the cramping. They think vinegar and mustard/wasabi does the same thing
There's a lot of chat about it in Triathlon circles. I heard of people pinching sachets of mustard and vinegar from cafés. You can buy Pickle Juice shots on Amazon but the postage is huge.
