I wish we could, unfortunately it may be weeks, months?? Who knows, plus a lot of $$$s out of our bracket.

Indeed. Maybe there once was a "debate" on facebook that illuminated and supplemented the unique and profound knowledge of the sport of fell running, based on half a century of experience, that rests within the FRA Executive so as to influence its decision making - but I don't recall it.

On the other hand facebook has provided many hours of harmless amusement.

After a trip to the local asda for a bottle of flavoured water.

I can confirm it's all women and old men doing the panic buying.

It was busier than Christmas this morning.

Trip to Morrisons yesterday was a bit fraught...

Managed to get some extra hot sauce for my lunchtime rice though... kills all known germs (and some unknown ones too)

Morrisons was way busy this morning but I managed to get a bottle of Brandy and a packet of pitta breads without hassle except for a longer wait than usual at the Till among a lot of folk that would appear to have very large families, the older folk like myself seemed content just to purchase the basic necessities.

Right decision by the FRA it is up to the individual as to how they asses risk to themselves and spend there time, that includes any folk from any age group IMO.

TPTB like it when things like this spiral out of control because it gives them an idea of what people are going to do, and allows them to plan for real emergencies like a biological weapons attack. They'll steadily ramp up the measures and let the media go mad with it. The data from supply chains is particularly useful, as it can be used to predict how fast most things will take to run out. Supermarkets don't rent more warehouse space than they need, and don't hold more stock than they have to either; which is why, according to my friend on the sausage counter at Waitrose, they've sold about 6mths worth of pasta in 2wks and won't have any more for ages because the entire chain is dry all the way from Otley to Italy.

I'm so very glad the FRA are just keeping calm and carrying on, it was about time someone decided to just batten down the hatches and keep going. The potential country-wide economic impact of getting in a flap about it all is wildly unpredictable. Small businesses in particular who have no capacity to absorb losses will suffer terribly if we keep buying into this idea that we're all in mortal danger. The media are simply capitalising on it by filling their outlets with outrage porn.

I notice that under the Madrid lockdown, cyclists and runners were ordered back to their flats and houses. How long before we will not be allowed to go out for a run here I wonder.
