Greta Thunberg must be feeling humbled. All that effort she has expended trying to get people to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, with very little to show for it; and then a little virus comes along and the whole airline industry almost grinds to a halt.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

If it happens here I won’t be running but my commute will be on foot at a more, than sprightly pace

Supermarkets don't rent more warehouse space than they need, and don't hold more stock than they have to either; which is why, according to my friend on the sausage counter at Waitrose, they've sold about 6mths worth of pasta in 2wks and won't have any more for ages because the entire chain is dry all the way from Otley to Italy.

I'm so very glad the FRA are just keeping calm and carrying on, it was about time someone decided to just batten down the hatches and keep going. The potential country-wide economic impact of getting in a flap about it all is wildly unpredictable. Small businesses in particular who have no capacity to absorb losses will suffer terribly if we keep buying into this idea that we're all in mortal danger. The media are simply capitalising on it by filling their outlets with outrage porn.
JIT manufacturing, even toilet roll stocks are kept to a minimum now, if a paper machine goes down it doesn’t take long for product to go off sale

She's probably more upset with not being able to continue her hypocritical celebrity lifestyle.

I suggest you read what the loo roll manufacturers have to say in such as Manchester. Article in mail.
They are geared up to cope for fluctuation,
They see no reason for stockpile.

The biggest threat is the lunacy of acceding to the idiocy of (such as) shutting down schools, so the useful people in the economy have to stay home look after kids. Interruption of manufacture and supply of essential materials would be a disaster.

    We need can do mentality.

Agree. Round here all seems to be ticking over with leisure the area mostly hit.

The reality is the old, those with conditions are at risk and the avoiding pubs, clubs etc is sensible and responsible.
If many of the rest of us catch it and take a week or two off, so be it, but we should carry on and I hope the Government do not try and shut all down to the levels we've seen in Spain.

Yes I suppose I could read the Mail article (I did) or I could know (from experience) that all major paper mills no longer stockpile parent reels like in days of old as storage space costs money, I do agree though people need to stop panic buying it’s complete lunacy ironically fuelled by rags like the Mail

The BBC and ITV still churning out lots of so called experts and guests on their morning sofa's.

Many of these are advising, amongst other mind numbing obvious ideas, not to make non essential travel.

    Practice what you preach eh!

The statement just issued by UK Athletics appears to have put the kybosh on most events.

Our club about to issue a statement closing the track/club, and putting a stop to all formal sessions (whether we carry on informally, or are reduced to training alone, remains to be seen).
