Just been on WhatsApp to Turkish friends.
Masks still to be worn outside.
No pools open yet.
No sun loungers.
No bicycle hire.
Very limited restaurants open.
No breakfasts in hotels.
No hotels allowed to open bars.
They have an announcement at the start of July.
Doesn't sound promising this summer.
59% on this cruise became positive:

Yet another example of a large group where most caught it - the idea that most will not get it is popular but almost certainly wrong.
I wonder whether the air conditioning systems in buildings, and cruise liners , are helping to spread it.
If so, forcing people to stay home in tower blocks is part of the problem, not the solution.
There is also a pattern in fish markets and meat processing plants.
Is the cold preserving the virus? The nature of handling passing it on?
Lots unknown.

Whilst, yeah, R would fall if a large part of the population had already had covid 19, it’s mainly fallen here and around the world due to lockdown stopping people meeting people with the virus in the infection period and social distancing. R can be kept low by active track and tracing as and when hot spots emerge - eg the food processing plant in Germany (which for a short period pushed their R level up to 2.88)
