My point in replying to this thread was that it had taken a reflective turn and it seemed appropriate. Agreed if you don’t like it don’t say anything.

You have no idea. Challenge something I said. I might even agree.

I have a habit of dissecting tropes such As “ free movement is good” and showing what a disaster they Are. But I don’t expect readers to take it at face value and most of these things are complicated. I am analytical. It’s how I was trained. Do you really mean you disagree but can’t challenge the reasoning?

That was the year to say I beat Gavin round borrowdale!

This was 2018 and I was there - I came last limping in with an injury. Now if you could state a rough finishing time we might have a view who you actually are...

I once won a pair of socks as 3rd counter for the Mens Vet team at a local race.

Other than that, in 2005 beating Bashir to the 1st corner at the Southport 4 one year was about as good as it gets

He won the race in 19:59 and I was 24:27 - I'd take that now!

Next day I chased him around Rivington Pike.

You are too modest. I remember your proudest achievement! The day your daughter won a race prize, you wn the raffle in a family double header!

My actual claim to fame is coming top few in some long LDWAs like the trog, came 4th I recollect. That type suited me better than long AL even though I preferred the latter.

Most LDWA events aren't races as such. I came first in The Smugglers Trod at Robin Hoods Bay (17 mile course) in 2016 and second last year. Mind you that says more about the standard of the field than me. The 25 mile route always has the better runners. I was only ever mediocre even in my heyday.

But I am not a fell runner according to DT.

I got within 45secs of Colin Donnelly a couple of years ago...

- he was i think a V60
- it was a cross-country race
- it was only 3km long

But i'll dine out on it for a few more years.
