My blog comment about last year's Peris

"The hardest bit was then then the run up the gradual climb of the miners track to the turn off to Lliwedd, I could not be seen walking by the tourist so heart and lungs screaming I kept running up the slight incline! It was to some considerable relief that I cut off the main path and headed up the trail towards Y Lliwedd"

Iain, i can well imagine some struggling with the miners path after PyP, i think its all about head down and tick away on that section and plug away. Fast Feet is good advice, stretch out too much and you'll waist energy early on only to be picked up later in the race struggling your way off Moel Cynghorion. Going to pop up a few more times to get a really good feel for it (plus i bloody love it up there) and then just wait for the day.

There's a video/youtube clip somewhere of Tim Davies descending in the FRA relays.. 09? 10? up in the North West Lakes.. ironically the leg he lost it for the Galactico's.. but its a lovely example of fast feet.. worth watching.. even the announcer called it at the time.. beautiful demonstration of a great descending technique.

It is a nice watch. Not many can come down like Tim in fairness.

Amazing descending by Tim there! Not a bad descender yourself Athers as I recall, I followed you down Cader Idris this year and you had great lines! Agree with most of the comments regarding Pedol Peris, I always seem to overcook the early descents and end up walking down Cynghorion!!! Saving the Quads is a priority on this one!

Cheers Ady. Yeah that last descent off Cynghorian is a killer on the legs.

Yeah i remember you now on race day, you overtook me after i ran out of steam off the bottom of the hill. That final run in off Cader is evil. :-)

I was hoping to bodge something together by copying this http://home.fellrunningroutes.org.uk...PerisHorseshoe onto a piece of the relevant OS map. No idea if this is the optimum route or not.

Not done it before but sent my entry in about 2 weeks ago so should be there.
