    Re: Peris Horseshoe race

No route map. loads of route choices. There's an old route description knocking around on the web that helps.

The main options are on the best way to Elidir Fawr (gully or summit routes - summit for me), the best descent off Glyder Fawr (red spots, glaciated slab or earlier - earlier for me), and the best way up Snowdon from the Bwlch (watkins or east ridge - east ridge for me).

Brilliant race, did 3:38 last year, but if it's a hot day I'll be happy sub 4.

    Cheers,
Been busy studying my map the last few days know most of the route should be fun, just hope its not to hot. This will be the longest fell race I've done looking about 5 1/2 hrs for me.(If I get round ??)

It's bloody hard. I think Jura is the only race I've done that I've found harder. The 1000m peaks is longer but I find it easier than this. With the Peris I always have Cynghorion sat in my mind, it's never over, even when you get up that there's a killer descent which is very hard going after 15 milers. Great race.

Half Peris for me tomorrow, haven't the legs for the main race. How do people get back to Llanberis from the finish, Sherpa bus?

Sounds like Lloyd had a cracking run, and John Hunt too. Dark Peak travelling in strength again?

    Full results out soon?

Yeah cracking day. Lloyd did 3:20 and seemed comfortable, said he wasn't descending well, but still some time. John Hunt did 3:33:24 and I did 3:33:39, I was right behind John until 200 yards to go and fell over, but to be fair he seemed stronger than me so didn't fancy myself to overtake him in a sprint.

Sarah dropped out at PyP, she didn't feel good at all. Noel had a stormer, 3:57, finally broke his 4 hr target.

Jackie had a very strong run 3:49 I think.

Cracking day for it, a bit warm in places, but otherwise about spot on. Just about to guide a group up Snowdon and the legs feel a bit sore!

Some great runs in what looked like hot conditions.

    Peris horseshoe (half)

it's quite a few weeks away but just wondered what people think of this race? I don't think I'm up for the full horseshoe, but would love to give the half a crack.
    Is it a good 'un?
