11.11 miles, 2,435 feet, 3 hours 36 minutes: Loughrigg trails, including down the race route to the road at High Close, down through Deerbolts Woods to Grasmere shore, and back up to the top via Loughrigg Terrace and the steps overlooking Grasmere. Misty/foggy at all levels. No sunshine, no blue sky, intermittent light drizzle, a moderate breeze from the south west. Terrain wet/saturated/slippery. Lots of walkers on the fell. Only 1 runner seen - in the valley.

10.26 miles, 3,006 feet, 3 hours 33 minutes: WansfellPike from 2 sides, ascending initially from Kelsick Scar, going along the ridge to the true top and Baystones, down to the upper part of Nanny Lane, then back up to the Pike. The anti-cyclonic gloom persists: overcast, with the cloud base at about 1,200 feet - hazy below this. No rain, no wind, no sun, no blue sky. Terrain damp/wet/saturated/slippery. No runners seen. There was a group of 16 walkers at the top of the Pike - apart from them I saw about a dozen others.

First 50m ride out to the craven arms in quite a while yesterday, i had a bowl of chips with gravy and 3 pints of ale. The tourists parking on the double yellow lines at barden need ticketing, i think. Some camper van cock parked on double yellows yesterday, not keeping their children under control, i cycle past and nearly clip a small boy who suddenly appeared from round the end of the van and ran into the road. Quite a close one.

10.66 miles, 2,933 feet, 3 hours 32 minutes: Rothay Bridge - Miller Bridge - Rydal park - Low Sweden bridge - rock step - High Sweden Bridge - Scandale - Red Screes - south ridge - Golden Rule Pub - Ambleside. Sunshine, blue sky, and thin high streaky clouds; some high fluffy clouds appeared later. No rain, a moderate breeze from the north. Terrain anything from dry to damp/wet/saturated; slippery in places, but predictably so. Not many walkers on the fells, and town is very quiet; 3 runners seen, 2 of them AAC members.

    First sunshine/blue sky for ages.

It cannot have been you then on Saturday powering down from Bardon Moor towards the old tower at Bardon Bridge. I was toiling up when this bolt of lightning flew past and I thought "in this vicinity at that speed that can only be Mr B".

10.74 miles, 3,027 feet, 3 hours 45 minutes: Loughrigg trails, including down the race route to the road at High Close, down through Deerbolts Woods to Grasmere shore, and back up to the top via Loughrigg Terrace and the steps overlooking Grasmere. Also visited were Todd and Ivy Crags and Lily Tarn. Sunshine, blue sky, a very thin smear of high cloud, and a lovely inversion over Windermere and adjacent valleys. Very clear in the distance. No rain, no wind, terrain dry/damp/wet and slippery in places, though in the main where there was mud it provided good grip. Not many walkers about, despite the fantastic weather; 3 runners seen.
