8.14 miles, 2,628 feet, 2 hours 28 minutes: Wansfell ridge. Overcast, no wind, terrain mainly dry, though the grass is damp making it a bit slippery when steep. Lots on the main steps up to the Pike, so I went up/down the race route - it clearly was not used descending from the uphill only race as it is in reasonable nick still.

Edit: It turns out it was used for the descent - it was flagged and people were encouraged to walk down, and apparently most did. I am amazed how well the terrain stood up to such footfall.

7.5 miles, 820 feet, 76 minutes: Skelwith/Drunken Duck loop. Overcast, high tops hidden in mist, no rain nor wind. Very quiet - understandable as the forecast was grim.

12.14 miles, 3,694 feet, 3 hours 29 minutes: Clappersgate - Fishgarths Wood - Loughrigg - Silver Howe and back the same way. Overcast, a couple of minutes of light rain, no wind, not cold. Terrain is damp but not too muddy. Very few about. Knackered after this morning's HIIT session.

7.35 miles, 2,211 feet, 2 hours 7 minutes: Wansfell Ridge and around. Lovely autumn sun, no wind, not cold. Slippery terrain, but predictably so. Quite a few on the fell.

8.83 miles, 2,815 feet, 2 hours 32 minutes: Loughrigg trails. Muddy and very slippery; almost constant light drizzle, not cold except in the intermittent wind. Very quiet. The signs are up for the Brathay 10 in 10 marathons.

7.05 miles, 892 feet, 74 minutes: the quieter roads of Ambleside. Overcast, intermittent light drizzle, no wind. Not that many about, given it is a saturday and half term for many.

Just as I finished a man dressed in black ran down our road, followed shortly after by a police van and three police on foot clearly looking for somebody. Car thief?

Didn't you have enough beans left in the can to catch him?

Did not cross my mind actually. He initially attracted my attention as I thought he might be one of the runners I know who lives at the bottom of the road - so I had a good look at him; the three police on foot looked pretty young and I am sure would have been faster than me. I doubt I will hear anymore about it, but will post if I do.

12.27 miles, 4,114 feet, 3 hours 37 minutes: Clappersgate - Fishgarths Wood - Loughrigg - Silver Howe and back the same way. First half was very cold and windy, with intermittent rain and hail - then the sun came out and the wind eased off. Very wet and slippery underfoot. Lots on Loughrigg; very few on/near Silver Howe.
