8.46 miles, 3,306 feet, 3 hours 5 minutes: Tilberthwaite - Coppermines Valley - Levers Hause - Swirl How - Wetside Edge - Tilberthwaite. With 5 others from AAC. Overcast - in cloud/mist above about 1,000 feet. No wind, rather humid. Terrain damp and slippery in places. Not many on the fells, but the car parks were full and town is busy.

Mike i am looking forward (with a fair degree of trepidation) to your club's Great Lakes Race a week on saturday, having not ran it before, but been over most of the course in the past.

I have run it twice, and recce'd the route many times. Finding the top of Great End can be tricky in mist, and even in good visibility, route finding from Slight Side to Red Tarn, and then from the top of Blisco to the finish, can be challenging. Even if navigation is not a problem, the second last ascent from the River Esk is never ending, and amazingly steep if you go straight up. Good luck.

9.37 miles, 3,523 feet, 2 hours 50 minutes: Wansfell Pike from 3 sides. Overcast/misty - cloud base at about 500 feet initially, rising somewhat later. Almost continuous light drizzle, terrain wet and slippery. Waterproofs on throughout. Not many on the fell.

10.63 miles, 3,055 feet, 3 hours 14 minutes: Loughrigg trails. Sunshine and clouds - very warm in the sun - fortunately there was a cooling breeze. Terrain dry. Busy on the top of Loughrigg, otherwise fairly quiet.

5.71 miles, 2,487 feet, 2 hours 11 minutes: St Sunday Crag and Arnison Crag from Patterdale Cricket Club with 8 or so from AAC. Sunshine and clouds, no wind, terrain dry. Roads and car parks busy, the fell less so. Glad I had sunscreen on.

9.74 miles, 3,830 feet, 3 hours 22 minutes: Winterseeds - Seat Sandal - Dunmail Raise - Steel Fell - Calf Crag - Gibson Knott, then down the zigzags before Helm Crag. Mainly overcast, occasional sunshine. Windy on top but not cold. Terrain mainly dry, but a bit damp and slippery in places. Lots of people heading towards Calf Crag from Helm Crag, and the roads and parking areas are very busy. Saw about 10 other runners.

15.35 miles, 4,642 feet, 4 hours 50 minutes: Ambleside - Rydal - Nab Scar - Alcock Tarn - Winterseeds - Grisedale Tarn - Cofa Pike - Fairfield, then the rest of the Horseshoe c/w. Sunshine and clouds, lovely and cool on top, warm in the valleys. Terrain dry, soft. Not that many on the fell - surprising, given what a nice day it is. Town is very busy.
