It won’t be “us”. I’m not breaking any rules and I’m sure most on this forum aren’t either. We shouldn’t be punished for the actions of a small minority. Hancock said himself that most people were complying.

To ban exercise as a result is disproportionate when you consider the effect on physical and mental health.

Using the term "us" I am referring to the public as a whole, not FRA in particular - look upon it as "all of us".

It may only be a minority of the population as a whole who act irresponsibly, but that is enough to continue doing the damage, on a localised or countrywide scale.
None of it is rocket science, the instructions are pretty simple to follow, so we should follow them and get it over and done with, or else accept the consequences. "It wasn't me it was him" is not an excuse anymore.

If we are locked in for a while then so be it, I would hate it but to imply it would effect our physical and mental health must only show how weak and pathetic we have become. We have 24 hour contact and entertainment with the world plus a brain to use, never had it so good for confinement.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Just because you think it weak and pathetic, doesn’t mean some people won’t be badly affected.

I think a ban on exercise at this stage would be disproportionate when the number of people not following the rules are so small.

Todays PDE was a 4 mile morning walk with wife, son and dogs around Shining Bank Quarry to build up an appetite for a take-away Sunday Lunch delivered to our door by the Lathkil Hotel. Very tasty it was too.

Not something we would normally do but trying to support a local business that I hope will still be there when this is over.

It would help if the guidelines were clear and exact.

    Here is my suggestion.
60mins max exercise per day, avoiding and contacting. Maximising social distancing.

I'm with you Muddy. Target the irresponsible and rule breakers and sort them.

A reasonably sensible idea Stagger but as I've said before one size does not fit all. I could, and have been out from my home address for an hour and not seen a soul. Many people would go out for an hour and probably pass dozens of people.

I don't think the time one is out is the difficulty but where we go and numbers of others around us.

Agreed. One size doesn't fit all but for the unclear a more specific guide line may help.

We all know to avoid others but like driving to a location, not everyone can or will follow that.

As has been said elsewhere - Government makes huge mistakes; gets public to blame each other for the grim outcome.

It's a bit like speed limits. 70 on the motorway, 60 on a main road, 30 in the town, 20 on many residential streets - if we go to a one size fits all in terms of permitted exercise, regardless of existing local circumstances and common sense it's the equivalent of a 20mph limit on the motorway.I don't think the problem is being caused by people'exercising' as we understand it, more often it seems to be a case of sunbathing, barbecues and socialising.

Apparently Covid-19 does not transmit well outdoors. One scientist in this article claims that there is currently no evidence that coronavirus has ever been transmitted outdoors, while there is abundant evidence of indoor transmission.

Also, the number of people complying with Government regulations is very high. Even in the worst area of Middlesbrough - where 25 per cent of people are not complying - it is still within the government’s 75 per cent target.

So the case for more draconian action is not supported by the evidence.
