Todays PDE was a late afternoon bike ride of 30 miles and 2,500 feet. Out to Brierlow Bar and along the A515 to Newhaven and back home via Youlgrave. A big mistake going out at that time as I hit the 515 around 5.15pm and it was like a racetrack with people travelling home from work.

Vehicles seemed to be travelling a lot faster than they used to, unless I have been so used to very little traffic over the last month that I have forgotten what a nightmare place an A road is to cycle on!
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

No you are quite correct. The roads around here are very quiet but what traffic there is, is moving at a much faster pace and there are a number of idiots (cars and motorcycles) using the clear roads as a race track. West Midlands and West Mercia police are trying to clamp down on it but I'm not sure what effect it has with their somewhat limited resources for this at the moment.

Thankfully, once out into North Worcestershire and off the A roads, it is very, very quiet.

6 miles, 56 minutes, around the Roman ruins. Much cooler, overcast. Very quiet, thankfully.

Bike ride to Tadcaster and back via B roads.

Cracking morning on good roads. Just a nip in the air.

    40k with 440m ascent.

Lovely smell passing John Smith's brewery 😇

Feeling sh*t and sorry for myself.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

So if you are on the A515 at 5.15pm, you could probably get to the A6 by 6pm and arrive in Matlock in time to be on the A615 at 6.15pm.
