Felt a bit stroppy today so went out and ran our two local footpaths with contentious closed signs put up by vigilante local residents. The one up from the dam end of Lindley Wood reservoir and then came back through the hamlet of Clifton, which has a very offensive sign warning people off. No resistance was met and I had a fine 2 hr run seeing loads of bluebells.

16k on mountain bike all off road with 250m climb.

Very few people out today but it was very cold in the wind.

Good to be out and strange as it is sometimes a ride on foot paths and bridleways is like fell running with the views and feelings.

Road biking is akin to road running with time, effort and distance all the primary factor.

9 miles, 650 ft, 1 hour 25 minutes: to Troutbeck Bridge, Troutbeck itself, Holbeck Lane, back to Ambleside. Far more cars than when I last did this route a couple of weeks back, 3-4 times as many. Maybe people have looked at the weather and decided it is a shopping day.

Today's PDE was a glorious evening run of 7 miles and 850 feet mainly off road across fields and up to High Wheeldon. The views from the top, over to Chrome and Parkhouse Hills, in the evening sunshine were fantastic.
Had a quick chat to a farmer as she was overseeing a ewe giving birth in a corner of a field.
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

15k mountain biking at good tempo pace, mainly off road. Powering up the hills.
    300m of them too.
Got a proper sweat on and legs have got that loving burn feeling.

6.84 miles, 2,100 feet, 1 hour 45 minutes, Wansfell Pike to Wansfell true top and back along the ridge. Cold, a bit of drizzle, damp underfoot but not muddy/boggy. Full but light weight waterproofs to keep the cold breeze off. Did not see a soul.

Road bike for a quick 20k.
Got soaked to the skin in first 3k.

Stamped on the pedals and average 26.5mph with 250m ascent.

That's my best average and not bad for a15 stone lad.

Personally I feel the rain lowered my rolling resistance.

Just posted 101k for this week.
