Yep. Oxy-aectylene and stick were the go to processes when I started welding.
Best thing with gas was if you travelled to slow or got too close the weld pool exploded and sprayed red hot metal on you.
Now when TIG welding it just contaminats the tungsten and you have a walk to grinder.
Stick welding is still a tough skill to learn with the number of stop/starts and slope and tilt angles.
I've a good job and even better when I get my bollocking for attending.
