It used to clash with Borrowdale weekend. This year I think it had been moved and was actually due to be this weekend (which incidentally would have clashed with Callow just across the border in Shropshire, and Skiddaw!)

    Too far from where, exactly?
Its not any further than any Welsh race, but I think the fact it is in a remote area gives the impression that it's an absolute trek to get to, when in fact its only a short drive from Bala. Plus the difficult reputation... It isn't going to attract "crocodile racers" to use an Oracle phrase. You'd need to be happy to navigate independently and not be able to rely on following... (which rules out a great deal of runners!)

I remember marshalling at I think Kildwick and standing by the wrong gate on the lane. I was wondering when the leaders might appear when a group of three bewildered looking lads in vest and shorts turned up a hundred yards up the road at another field opening

One I saw was Marshall’s on the wrong hill at kentmere.

We could see them ahead but we all turned off a quarter of a mile before as we knew the route down.

They were waving frantically, wondering why nobody was coming.

Not the most logical three fells to link together in a run, but will make an exciting day... A6-Grey-Tarn-Gatesgarth-NanBield-Threshthwaite-Kirkstone-Dunmail-Calf Crag-PaveyArk-Ullscarf-HighTove-Keswick.

Working off an 11 hour schedule. If i can hit that about right it will give me confidence for something slightly longer a couple of weeks later. Should be an interesting day anyway!
That’s a tough lot to hook up together - sounds epic and enjoyable. Hopefully you will have a day that’s not as rainy as lately 😊

Does "we" imply you were in the leading group because I could be mightily impressed???
