Great area of Lakeland. We had a run out that way one year as part of the then annual XOTF celebrations. Happy memories

    Was over there last december...

    Mungrisdale-Souther Fell-Mungrisdale Common-Bannerdale Crags-Bowscale Fell-Carrock Fell-High Pike-Bakestall-Skiddaw-Keswick.

Huge day out, from dawn until dusk. Barely saw anybody all day. Weather was ferocious and i was relieved to finally make it back to Keswick in one piece!

Extended version of the Kentmere horseshoe to include Sour Howes and Sallows - 16.9 miles with 4478ft climb. Took 03:52 with some *ahem* nav issues

That has a lot in common with the beer race “ old crown? “
Love the blencathra race. A very short version.

Old Crown Round is Hesket-Carrock-Blencathra-Skiddaw-Knott-High Pike-Hesket.

Was supposed to be on in 3 weekends time. I have accommodation booked, originally for the Old Crown Round, but it's been cancelled.

So doing a long run out to finish off the Wainwrights instead.

Gutted as the Old Crown is indeed a great route.

Out this evening, from that back door, in a steady drizzle, onto the fell and through the first couple of in-takes, keeping a weary eye on the cows and calves in one of them. Rewarded magnificently as I reached the trig, by the evening sun breaking through, from the west over Crossfell, and casting the most vivid, double rainbow to the east, with enhanced colours against the dark inky blue storm skies over Durham way. A leisurely 6.28 uplifting miles, with 1217 feet of ascent in 1 hr 9 mins.

Out of interest, what is the Kendal Skyline?

Does it go up onto the Kentmere ridges?

Hi Travs. Nothing so exciting - it is all the hills in view from Kendal. Benson Knott, The Helm, Heslington Barrows, Scout Scar and Cunswick Scar. Last Saturday I did the Kentmere Skyline which is all the hills in encircling Kentmere - you could / should properly add Green Quarter Fell 😊
