Thread: e-bike

    e-bike

Where do you stand on e-bikes?
Here in Hamburg everybody seems to have one. Especially old fatties but even teenagers☹️.
I must admit I have mixed feelings.
On the one side, I think "can't they just ride a true bycicle, these lazy fatties...?"
On the other, no way they were ever going to ride a bycicle, if they weren't on an e-bike they would be driving a car. Then e-bike Is better.

    What's your opinion?
    Cheers,

    Alberto

I've tried an e-MTB. Best fun you can have with your trousers on. Make no mistake, you still work. But you can tackle ridiculous stuff. Not tried a road bike but I suspect fun as well.. great technology IMHO.

The popularity of E-Bikes will no doubt mean that those child cobalt miners in the Congo will not be made redundant any time soon.

I wonder if any BLM supporters ride them?

Of course they do. E bikes are for all without prejudice.

But, yes, battery production is the current dirty secret of the industrial world.

I have actually stood astride one in a bike shop car park. I attempted to set off, pulled a wheelie and fell off the back.
    My e-bike career over!

One thing I have noticed since the rise in e-bike use is that I seem to be overtaken by more men with ponytails.

Bold here since my teens 30yr ago.
Getting dumber or losing fitness I do mind. Losing hair? There is nothing I could care less.

My main concern about an e-bike would be security. The damn things cost as much as a good second hand car but bicycle theft is an ever present menace.

My wife has an ebike which is great when I ride with her on my conventional bike (my bike has just been fettled on the goverment voucher scheme), I watch her disappear on the climbs and then I go `eyeballs out` on the descents and flat to catch her up again, great motivation for me to dig in and work harder than I normally would and I figure when I can no longer catch/stay with her then maybe I will look at going electric.

But then I will need to know that my endurance range will be less than the bikes battery otherwise I will stick to self propelled, rather than pedal a 18-22 KG e-bike with a flat battery.

No pony tail for me less hair less wind resistance every little helps
