I will be there. Not at race pace yet although I will support the race and have a gentle potter round.
Likewise . Ankle jiggered, so will be going very very slowly down into Skirden. It's lethal at the moment.
Another great day out and the organization was great with kind weather.
Lots of happy smiling forumities along with other fell runners.
Thanks to all who made it happen.
Echo that. Cheers biara for putting it on.
I'd remembered from doing the race in 2014 that a fast start is needed to avoid queuing at the gate before dropping into the woods.
What I'd not envisaged was how tired l'd be feeling after the sprint for the gate. Was I feeling yesterday's ALS race? Had I pigged out too much over the festive period? Was last nights crap sleep ( our Border Terrier is petrified of fireworks ) catching up with me?
When approaching the large stone cairn, which I presume is the Giant's Tooth, my mind started to wander.....it often does when I'm struggling during a race, I find thinking of something other than the race helps ease the feeling of tiredness.....and my thoughts resulted in me working out that the Giant with the missing tooth was approximately 490ft tall.
If the Giant ever decides to find his tooth ( stranger things have happened, I once won a race ) he'd better be careful on the surrounding roads. With the massive stride length he'd have, I'm almost certain he'd be done of speeding on the countless cameras in the area!
Many thanks to all at K&C and happy new year one and all.
Darren Fishwick, Chorley.
A giant ran this today in open toed sandals...could not believe it.
Great race cheers to all.
biara, well done for doing this. Sounds like a reet good job
