This from the BLM manifesto (IF its genuine!)

FOR THE RACIAL INJUSTICE: WE DEMAND:
THE IMMEDIATE ENACTMENT OF FEDERAL LAW THAT SANCTIONS AN EIGHT-HOUR WORKDAY FOR ALL WORKERS.
A FEDERAL MINIMUM WAGE OF $20 PER HOUR.
IMMEDIATE CREATION OF LABOR UNIONS FOR ALL MAJOR INDUSTRIES.
LABOR UNIONS AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVES ARE TO BE GIVEN EQUAL POWER AS THAT OF INDUSTRY EXECUTIVES OR PUBLIC SERVANTS.
THE RAPID AND COMPLETE NATIONALIZATION OF ALL THE TRANSPORT INDUSTRIES.
REDUCE THE NATIONAL RETIREMENT AGE FROM 66 YEARS OF AGE TO 55 YEARS OF AGE.

Absolutely nothing to do with colour....everything to do with a socialist power grab! Talk about wagon-hitching!

For sure there's some pretty inflamatory stuff in the original BLM manifesto and I don't think many people would want to throw their lot in with all the ideas in there. But BLM has become more than that radical agenda and is generally supported for its wider purpose of addressing the issue of racism against black people. That's not to the exclusion of other forms of racism or social injustices, simply that's where this particular movement's priority is.

I understand why some might get their knickers in a twist about the manifesto, less so why they do about the broader aim to address racism against black people.

The quoting is going to pot - something technical behind the scenes perhaps. I find myself agreeing with Dave Mole when he's been quoted

Regarding BLM as a Socialist Construct and now being more than that radical agenda - that's the sort of narrative that has been passed about in the past around the BNP. Ah they aren't the knuckle-headed thugs of the National Front anymore. They are more sophisticated and cuddly.

    No. I'm not having that.

When some on the right endorse a meme, or a statement by BNP, Britain First, Tommy Robinson they get clobbered. They get clobbered because they are validating the extreme right.

    That cuts both ways.

The Prem, in my opinion, should have had a big push on Kick it Out, avoided the "taking the knee" and the fist in the air as they are politicised gestures and validate the extreme left.

I've noticed that, and had to edit a recent post to deal with it.

The problem arises if you try to quote a post that includes a quote. You can fix it by deleting the unwanted [QUOTE=Hank;668137] (or similar) that appears at the top of your reply.

    Brett, where are you?

I get where you’re coming from, but I think most people are not aware of BLM’s origins in terms of its radical agenda; what they’re aware of is its broader anti-racism stance. So when they endorse BLM, that’s what they’re endorsing.

Again, most people would think of the BNP, BF, etc. as overtly racist groups, so any endorsement of them is seen as endorsing racism.

Also, worth remembering that taking the knee did not start as a specifically pro-BLM act, it came from CP’s stance that “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way.” It’s wrapped up in BLM now, and that’s because BLM has outgrown its radical roots and become a broader movement.

and I get where you are coming from Hank but it falls down in my opinion because The Premier League and others know exactly what BLM is about.

This is no doubt true, but I'm pretty certain the FL are endorsing/aligning with the common understanding of BLM rather than what you (not unreasonably) might argue is it's "true" meaning.
