Jean Pierre Rives for me although Daley Thompson would be a close second!
    Yes I did!

Jean Pierre Rives. Was that for his rugby skills or his beautiful long blonde hair?

But we all know there is only one JPR and he isn't French!

Probably a rock climber, someone like the late Andy Pollitt with the talent, looks and charisma. Unfortunately he seemed a troubled guy and died young, last year. Better to burn out etc.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

Uh, I didn't know. Never mind. He runs a lot, fast, in the mountains. That's enough for me to envy him.

I didn't know Andy Pollitt had died! I've just read his obituary. Troubled soul indeed.

If it has to be a sporting hero: I remember in my teens being amazed by Alan Knott. How could anyone have such fast reactions and be so agile and precise in his movements (i.e. the complete opposite of myself)?
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.
