Assuming this is directed at myself and not Hank...

No, not the Lairig Ghru... but you're in the right country!

I'll not give the answer just yet, in case anyone else fancies a go.

It's not Kintail, although you're getting warmer!

Looks a bit Assynt-like? Though couldn’t place that view. It’s a pass from me.

    Final clues...

    1) It's not on the mainland.

    2) the fourth peak in the view (summit not seen) is the site of a hill-race with the record held by Finlay Wild...

So the grid ref is NG522248, in Coire nam Bruadaran. Were you on the way to Garbh-bheinn and Bla Bheinn?

[And of course the race referred to is Glamaig.]

Nice one. That is near enough spot-on with the grid reference! If i recall, i was just a few minutes below the col at the top of the Coire...

I was actually on my way to Loch Coruisk, The Bad Step and Camasunary, having decided on a more adventurous start than Sligachan Hotel. I was to pay for this... as soon as i crested the col i was in the fiercest wind i'd ever encountered*, and it took me the best part of an hour to get from there down to the main Sligachan path.

One of the most memorable and stunning runs out i've ever had.

*that is, the fiercest wind i'd ever encountered until i hit the summit ridge of Glamaig a couple of days later, and had to crawl along the summit ridge from An Coileach.

As for Hank's brainteaser, my only guess is that it is somewhere to the west of the main Cairngorm summit massif? ie if you were heading from Glen Feshie towards the Cairngorm 4000's, it would be somewhere round there?

Excellent, exactly that! 913963 or thereabouts. About halfway across the Moine Mhor, doing the Cairngorm 4000s from Glen Feshie to Glenmore. Looking across the southern flank of Braeriach towards Angel's Peak and Cairn Toul. A cracking day out, though very hard going once out of Glen Feshie and across to Ben Macdui.
