There are so many hill/mountain goers that probably owe there lives to possibly one of the greatest most influential mountain men of all time.

    RIP and Thank You Sir

Oh that is terrible. Only two weeks ago i watched a documentary about him, which sort of jumped between his climbing/inventing history, and his memory loss and recovery.

    It was fascinating.

I watched it too Travs. I met him a couple of times when I was in the RAF.

Glen Coe will be a poorer place for his passing.
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

Very sad. There is no person rescued from a mountain who doesn't owe a debt of gratitude to the man.
The film linked above is a good watch but only available on iplayer for a few days so get in quick!

I still have one of his ice axes. I remember Pterodactyls coming out as well and being lent a pair (way out of my price range) and using them to dangle about in Kilnshaw Chimney on Red Screes. An iconic guy, I never met him but wish I had had the opportunity.
