It was in the early 70s when I first met Pete - much younger then, obviously. Alison and I bought our first fell shoes (ripples - remember them?) from him at his home in Staveley. In the early days, Pete was a prolific and successful racer, but he carried on putting much more back into the sport than he ever took out, not only supplying excellent kit to runners but also working for fell running behind the scenes in the FRA.

He's always been a regular feature of many races - and MMs - always helpful, always a friendly piece of advice, and it's great to see Matt carrying on where Pete left off. Pete will be sadly missed by us all.
