    Shame that's over

    The winter Olympics that is.

It has been a joy to watch particularly the curling, ski x country and Biathlon. but TBH the whole thing has been good to watch.

I hope this gets voted through for Italy in 2026.

Always enjoy the XC Skiing on Eurosport. The men's relay was very enjoyable, even though Russia had a good lead from early on.

Can't get sold on the Curling though!

    Curling?

Not a sport in my book. More of a pastime like darts, dominoes, snooker, bowls etc.

What i noticed about the curling is how delighted the Japanese were to get a silver in the womens event. Our (Scotland's) men also got silver, but were utterly miserable about it all. The cultural differences were vast.

The Russian girl who came second had a paddy and said she was never going to skate again.

We fell runners put up with a lot in the winter but that chap in the xc skiing with the frozen appendage? Another level surely...

    From the BBC:

"Poor Lindholm previously suffered a similar incident at a competition in Finland last year, with the thin suits and under layers worn by racers offering minimal protection from extreme cold."

You would think once was enough.

An article on Happiness in a recent edition of New Scientist had a photo of 4 US runners at the London Olympics with silver medals around their necks looking the polar opposite of happy. Apparently this is a well known paradox - silver medal winners think of the gold they missed out on, whereas bronze medal winners know they could easily have been fourth.
