You're right they didn't mean to piss me off, but the service and response they've given since then has made things 10 times worse, and that could have been easily avoided, so I'm going to take things further, if only to give them a shot in arse.
It easy to see how they failed to send the notice when you see the speed and decisiveness with which they've acted so far, I won't go into detail but I'm sure I'm not the 1st person this has happened to.

They made me a fairly decent offer of a new place, but I'd already found the place I've now moved to, which is even better
But as many people pointed out, It's something to be wary of, and I've certainly learned a lesson.
