    Tour de France 2021

Starts on Saturday, with highlights on ITV4 at 7pm for us tightwads

Can anyone beat the Welsh scryer, who correctly predicted the winner after stage 8 last year?

It's hard to see past Rog/Pog for the win. Hopefully G will make the podium if he manages to stay on his bike.

From BBC sport website, he'll never catch the rest of them by running as they have bikes

Mathieu van der Poel is off his bike but nowt to worry about.

Just a shoe change for the Dutch rider, who is now up and running again.

Wish I had put a few ££s on him winning in Paris, would have been worth a punt 6 months ago and have got some very good odds. Bet that has changed at the bookies!

A lot of attention is being paid to Pogačar riding on the big ring, when he was on the biggest sprocket at the back.

I recognise the "he's on the big ring!" psychology (after Riis) and far be it from me...but I would have thought it was mechanically slightly more efficient for him to have got his chain more in-line?

Amazingly, I've ridden all of them, so to get you in the mood here are a couple of old photos from the Col du Pré

This is from near the summit, note the absence of any meaningful type of barrier. It was narrow, bumpy and twisty if I remember correctly too, but at least they won't have to contend with cars coming the other way

And here's the bottom by the Lac de Roselend, the white at the background is Mont Blanc, on the way to the Cormet de Roselend

I reckon you are still good enough to ride for Team Ineos Grenadiers.

    If that isn't insulting you.
