Thread: Happy Birthday

Despite the mischievous mendacity of the King’s silly second son (and second husband to his wilful, woeful, failed TV actress wife), and the best efforts of a notoriously meretricious TV channel, which no gentleman would allow into his home, our King has not been diverted from sending my mother a card today on her 100th birthday.

So I say God Save The King!

The card presumably delivered by a courier in royal livery, since the postal workers are on strike today.
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

Yes The Royal Mail is indeed on strike today. Ironic or what?

I am not 100 today, but I have made it to 70 without comment, I shall seek solace in the 7 bottles of single malt that my good wife gifted me. 1 bottle for each decade.

So some way to go yet but if I may advise; my mother is a life-long vegetarian, never drinks spirits although a fine sherry is a different matter, is very well looked after by her eldest son and never took up fell running or cycling along busy main roads.

Thank you for those wise words of advice Graham, but I fear they have come too late in life to make a difference. I shall finish the Scotch and hope for the best.

Happy Birthday. I am aware some people try to drink as many pints in their birthday weekend as their age. I fear that for most of us, that ship may have sailed.

I hope the seven bottles of single malt last you considerably longer. But make sure you finish them before you reach eighty.

Happy Birthday. A lovely present which I will now suggest to the wife for my next 'big' birthday!
