I plan to head off at about 10:30 and take a reasonably sedate trot over from Honister. ( I have a long term hip injury so don't expect a good workout!!)

I am going to see Joss' family on Friday to agree final arrangements for Wasdale Head and I will post any information on the Home Page of the FRA website which (for those of you who can't find it) is www.fellrunner.org.uk and the official FRA FB Page.
I will be at the Wasdale Horseshoe race on Saturday if anyone wants to ask me any questions.
I have also got approval to compile a "Joss - Collection of Memories" submitted by FRA members to be published in conjunction with the Autumn Fellrunner. Please send any submissions to [email protected] Funny stories and personal anecdotes welcome with photos if possible please.

Simply the best. His achievements will be talked about forever.
There will be a few of us walking from Seathwaite ahead of the runners and those arriving by car should park in the £5 parking field to help reduce the potential congestion.
A circular route mostly downhill
Seeing as how nobody from the FRA seems to want to post anything on here, I'll do it.
More details on Joss Naylor's funeral arrangements:
Plans are coming together regarding fell runners and walkers making their way to Wasdale Head to lead Joss home. Groups will be leaving from a number of roadheads to make their way on foot over various passes into the Wasdale valley and it will be up to individuals to determine their own start times and also to think about the return journey. The various road heads are likely to be very busy so please be considerate, car share where possible or use alternative transport.
All runners and walkers are requested to wear club colours and to carry club flags if possible.
On arrival at Wasdale Head, everyone should make their way to Down in the Dale Bridge to meet the funeral cortege. It is suggested that everyone should be in place between 12:30 and 12:40 and should be mindful not to block the narrow road. When the hearse arrives, it is the family’s wish that all attendees walk in front of the cortege to “lead Joss home”, with those carrying club flags in the lead. On arrival at the church, there will be a field for attendees to gather to listen to the service which will be broadcast via a PA system.
There will be very limited car parking at Wasdale Head for those unable to get there on foot. A field near to the church will be made available.
The nearest toilet facilities are at Brackenclose National Trust Car Park.

Fell runners will be singing Sweet Low, Sweet Chariot as they process from the bridge to the church, accompanied by Rory Knowles from Ambleside on his cornet and led by Lindsay Buck. On arrival at the church, they will be led into an adjacent field where they will be able to listen to the service on a public address system. Out of respect for the family please do not try to access the church or the churchyard where space is extremely limited.
Additional car parking has now been agreed behind the National Trust car park and campsite at Brackenclose (where the Wasdale Horseshoe fell race finishes) GR NY 184 074 and donations will be collected for Joss' charity. This field will be open from 9am on Friday and is a ten-minute walk from Down in the Dale bridge where runners will be gathering from 12:30 to greet the funeral cortege. This may be a useful option for less able runners who are anxious about running back to their starting location to arrange to meet non-runners for a lift out of the valley after the service.
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Refrain Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
I looked over Wasdale, and what did I see,
Coming for to carry me home.
I saw a band of angels coming after me,
Coming for to carry me home
Refrain Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
If you get there before I do,
Coming for to carry me home.
Tell all my friends I'll be coming there too,
Coming for to carry me home.
Refrain Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
The brightest day that ever I saw,
Coming for to carry me home.
When Jesus washed my sins away,
Coming for to carry me home.
Refrain Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
I'm sometimes up, and sometimes down
Coming for to carry me home
But still my soul feels heavenly bound
Coming for to carry me home
Refrain Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
I looked over Wasdale and what did I see?
Coming for to carry me home
I saw a band of angels coming after me,
Coming for to carry me home
Refrain Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
Swing low, sweet chariot,
Coming for to carry me home
