More BGR data - reasons for failing

No not more ways to slice and dice the data but following on from the "Winning Women" thread I've an idea on how to capture reasons for failure.

I'm currently trying to make things a bit easier for people to let me know that they have failed. It's similar to how contenders can "manage" the date/time of their attempt in that they enter a ten character registration ID and they are taken to a form to fill in.

So if someone fails on the round they enter their ten character ID, on the form they need to enter their email address and then I'm thinking of a drop down box with reasons for non-success. So far I have:

    Did not start
Completed but in more than 24hrs
    Ran out of time
    Bad weather
    Injury

    I'm thinking of options like:

Pulled out at Threlkeld (or earlier)
Pulled out at Dunmail Raise (or earlier)

As it's a bit much to have an option for every top and road crossing. A different way might be to have the last option as:

Got as far as... (use the text box below)

Then they can enter peak name, road crossing or whatever.

I'm sure I've missed something, so any ideas?

    That seems to work.
One way to have it cleaner than people misspelling drop-out points, could be 'dropped out before Dunmail/Wasdale - then you capture everything.
Reasons for not completing: 'ran out of time' splits into 2 bins maybe - 'got lost' or 'slipped behind schedule'. I dunno if having a text box for 'other notes' might lead to elucidation along the lines of 'wasn't fit enough; bit off more than I could chew' or similar, or just be superfluous.

I've gone for what I suggested:

    Did not start
    Completed in over 24hrs
    Sustained an injury
    Ran out of time
    Bad weather
Got as far as... (enter location in box below)

Didn't want to have too many options and there aren't that many points/tops where a misspelling would be confusing plus I can always ask. Or could have the dropped out text box actually be a drop down with all the tops and road crossings listed. Might split the "Ran out of time" as you suggest into

Ran out of time (behind schedule)
Ran out of time (got lost)

Interestingly most of those who have so far given a reason this year have finished in over 24hrs:

    3 did not start
    10 finished in over 24hrs
5 quit at some point along the route.

21 either haven't replied or not given a reason.
    Will see how it goes.
