    Diabetes

    hello,

i found out i've got type 2 diabetes (which explains my lack of form recently!) just over a week ago, which i should be able to control with medication, diet, and exercise (i've been warned tho that it might be type 1 1/2 and need insulin )

just wondering if anyone has any experience of this, specifically how to eat whilst on longer runs - i imagine gels would just increase blood sugar too much?

also, did you find it makes much difference - can i look forward to a burst of speed when my blood sugars normal

    ta

Can't help you myself (for fear of giving crap info on something I don't understand), but I have a feeling this diet thingy we are on (Low GI) is based on a diabetics diet? Probably Wheeze or someone medical will come on and enlighten you correctly.
Don't roll with a pig in poo. You get covered in poo and the pig likes it.

well, tablets dont work so i'm on insulin. B******s.

Had a look at the wrfa site, thanks hairy legs.

I've got plenty of medical advice and support - the NHS can be ace, but i'd be interested to hear anyones experience of running and insulin, whether its improved blood control or anything really.

    Thanks

The forum at runnersworld is usually good for medical info and peeps with similar problems. Do a search over there.
