    Covid Autumn Booster?

Informed consent is obviously crucial, which requires access to a broad range of specialist opinion and facts. Here's a very recent vid from The World Council for Health who hosted a press conference in London on September 27, 2022 featuring one of Britain?s most influential cardiologists: Dr. Aseem Malhotra.

I had my booster 10 days ago. No adverse effects (yet). I'm not sure if I count as "non-elderly".
In his lifetime he suffered from unreality, as do so many Englishmen.

I haven't had mine yet, as I'm still pondering. I think it's the claimed reference to possible cardio-vascular problems as a result of the vaccines, outweighing (maybe!) the risk of covid itself, even at my doddering age, that has made me hesitant; as well as some of the draconian public policies imposed over the past couple of years that I've reacted against.

I've checked his wiki page and it seems he's a genuine cardiologist and not some red neck quack. I was also a bit unsettled by the manner in which the contributors to the Great Barrington Declaration were roundly vilified by the media ( https://gbdeclaration.org/ ) a year or so ago.

I'm not a medic, but in my own specialism of applied psychology, I've certainly been made uncomfortable by the broadening medicalisation of children's psychological behaviours often as pathological and requiring pharmaceutical treatments, based on some questionable research - more Big Pharma? Would Big Pharma be happy with me having jab No.4? No. 44? No. 444...?

Anyway, I just think it's prudent to have a read around and be a bit sceptical (while being sceptical of the sceptics too! )

As far as I can tell Aseem's claims about the mRNA vaccines are not taken seriously by those in the know. His 2 papers - published in an obscure journal of which he is one of the editors - have been soundly demolished by a couple of experts I trust. Even Tassim Nicholas Taleb calls his view on vaccines "BS".

One of the problems with social media is that even utter nonsense will have lots of supporters.

I have had 4 vaccinations against Covid - and - over the years, possibly 15 or so against 'flu. A slightly sore arm a couple of times - no other side effects.

One is right to be sceptical of Big Pharma but nobody gets papers published, invited onto platforms, becomes reported in the media,...by upholding the accepted consensus. My son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grand-daughter,...all work in front line medicine and have had the injections, as have I.

We all must choose what we believe - but then so, presumably, did Icarus.

I've had all mine that I've been offered - as a 65 yr old. A couple of times I've had both Covid and Flu vaccinations at the same time and felt a bit rough overnight - but nowhere near as rough as I've felt when I had Flu or Covid.

First up, thanks for the above comments and opinions. It is encouraging to hear that there have been no ill effects (as yet at least) from those on jab No. 4.

A bit of context regarding NHS advice, that has made me reflect on this issue.

A work colleague of mine, 60 year old female, generally fit and not obese, had a check-up at her local GP surgery at the beginning of last year, including a blood test which indicated that she had elevated cholesterol levels in her blood. Her GP suggested she went on a low fat diet. 3 months or so later she returned for a further test which indicated that her levels had in fact increased and consequently she was advised that perhaps statins would need to be prescribed. As most of us might similarly feel, she was alarmed about the prospect of taking prescribed meds for the rest of her life.

Fortunately, for her, a mutual GP friend of ours recommended the Keto diet, which is of course completely opposite to the conventional current wisdom advocated by NHS as it entails near complete avoidance of carbs and nee worries re fat and protein intake, within reason! I think Jordan Peterson, among many others, similarly expounds this diet as having been highly beneficial for his own health.

3 months later on a 'Keto-like' diet (she couldn't 'stomach' - excuse the pun - the fully carnivore option lifestyle, but restricted her carb input markedly) she found that she had to pay for a private blood test (the NHS wouldn't provide her with one at that time) and her cholesterol levels had fallen considerably. Several months further on, she eventually did manage to obtain another NHS blood test. This test also conformed a marked fall in her cholesterol levels and consequently the worry of having to take statins receded. She recalled to me with some amusement how her family GP appeared to 'not listen' when my friend explained that the improvement were not as a direct result of following the GP's advice, but acting very much on the contrary.

So, this particular Icarus didn't crash and burn, but she is currently soaring quite happily into her, at present, meds-free early retirement.

I'm not on Twitter, but browsing the internet I did see how Tassim Nicholas Tableb raged about Asseem calling his work "BS".

    Interestingly, I also noted a few of Tassim's quoted 'wisdoms';

"The psychologist Gerd Gigerenzer has a simple heuristic. Never ask the doctor what you should do. Ask him what he would do if he were in your place. You would be surprised at the difference"
― Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder

He appears to be advocating questioning of the established authority too,

    and...

"Charm is the ability to insult people without offending them; nerdiness the reverse"
    ― Nassim Nicholas Taleb

"It is my great hope someday, to see science and decision-makers rediscover what the ancients have always known. Namely that our highest currency is respect."
― Nassim Nicholas Taleb, The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable

Tassim seems to be a bit of a charmless nerd by his own definition, and fails to take his own advice, unless of course we don't take him seriously at his word - there's a word for such empty spouting that I also think Tassim is fond of using

Having invested over 2 hours of my life watching Mossdog's video recommendation I still went ahead and had a flu jab and Covid booster yesterday morning.

I took a couple of paracetamol prior to and for twelve hours afterwards. Went for a 4 mile walk with dogs yesterday and 5 miles today. Have felt fine, other than this morning when I awoke my left arm, Covid jab, was a bit sore and has been all day.

    Planning to run tomorrow.
Visibility good except in Hill Fog

I often ponder about time I will never have again.

Last evening I invested some in Bob Dylan's concert in Manchester. Well Bob and I go back to the mid 60s: 60 albums,60 years and it also feels like 60 books.

Ah well Bob, still out there at 81 - but at least we still have those early albums.
