Count me in, discord sounds like a good option.
Count me in, discord sounds like a good option.
It is not a traditional forum format.
It is more in "real time", as i think it was originally intended as live chat/discussion, as WittonPark alluded to above. If you are on a thread, you can see if somebody is typing a reply/comment (although i'm not sure we'll be that busy! On my music discord you often have several people typing at once and it becomes a fast-moving live discussion)
However it is still particularly suited to being used as a forum.... i use it as a music forum and there are somewhere up to 100 members on there, with perhaps 40-50 regular posters. I would suggest it works well as a smaller forum, so our likely numbers will be suited.
The way i see it is there would be similar sections as on here.... General/Races/Training/Injuries/OffTopic.
The races section would certainly need splitting into geographical areas Lakes/Yorks/Scotland/Wales/Peaks/etc, in order to make things searchable, and not have a single racing thread with multiple conversations going on at once, and important info getting "buried"...
However i would envisage that due to numbers we perhaps wouldn't need a thread for individual races, and i'd imagine subjects like training/injuries/off-topic might only need the one thread (we can see how it goes at first).
In terms of search function, you can search individual words, or posts made by a certain member, even pics/videos/media posted by individual members.
posts/threads will remain permanently as long as you're a member of the discord.... however it is not accessible from outside, only members of the server have access... therefore it certainly won't replace the info on here as an open archive for everyone to access.

Its a interesting option if we are to really lose the forum. It seems the issue is closed as we have no champions in the committee. Thats sad but, as an ex-runner, I don't have a dog in the fight. But I do enjoying reading about the exploits of those that do (thanks Travs) and occassionly offering an opinion based on experience. Count me in.

Travs thank you for taking the initiative. I am a regular reader infrequent poster. I'd definitely be up for a discord channel/group. Ironically I'd likely post more there too. On a "wide open" fora I tend to only write if it's something I definitely think others would benefit from.
I'll pm you my email Travs.
This has had a positive response, much more so than expected.
I have set up a Discord server.
Those who are interested would need to do two things....
1) pm or email me your contact details. I think I can send invites out via email, but people, if they feel comfortable, may prefer to also send me their mobile numbers, and I can set up a contact on my phone and send out invites via WhatsApp.
My email address is [email protected]
2) Download the Discord app onto your phone/pc/laptop as preferred.
At some point next week, when hopefully most people have sent me their contact details, I will issue all the invites... I think you just click the invite link and it allows you to join the server, select user name etc.
Hopefully if I've got the settings sorted, you should then be able to view all threads/posts (I don't expect there'll be much to view at first... I haven't really thought about it but I expect most, including myself, will continue to use this forum until it goes.

I’m I Switzerland at the moment where they have a political system that allows for a referendum on important issues such as this.

Like also..maybe an open letter to the committee asking for some reasons.
Would the new forum have to have a new name?
Just throwing these out for consideration, if needed:
