    Re: Hydration Rucksack Input

I bought a small 10L rucksack by OMM called the 'Last Drop' recently. seen plenty of others using them too.
Its great - got two large side pockets big enough for bottles and i can reach round to put them in/take them out without trouble. It can take a bladder too if you want, but i don't bother with them personally. Doesn't weigh anything either... Not quite sure if its what you're after, but i may well use it to replace my bumbag even on shorter runs. I think its really good and there's plenty of room for kit inside.

Half fill the bag, then squeeze out the air - voila! no sloshing!

Ended up getting one of these - it looked a neater profile and looked as if it would accomodate full kit. It turned up today so I loaded it up with 1.5L of fluid, Karrimor Phantom II jacket, Craghopper Pakka over trousers, gloves, whistle, compass and went out for 1:40 to try it out. The gear just fit and there was a little room spare in the bladder section for small items and also a netting side pocket spare for gels/apricots, etc. so it fulfilled the task of carrying full kit. It felt comfy on but I could do with the shoulder straps being a little tighter and the adjuster seems to be at max - I will have to investigate this when I can be arsed. Quite pleased with it, especially the ease of taking on board liquid whilst moving quickly - much easier than fishing a bottle out of the side of your bumbag and no need to stop at streams for a slurp.

I did 4 hours with my Tesco £9.97 one today. No problems at all. Carried all the gear and I found I could reach my compass and food in the small compartment at the bottom without any bother. No need to take the rucksack off.

ive been using a berghaus limpet for the past yr and havent been too happy with it as its unnaccessable when running.just got a 10L raid light and it seems to be working very well although havent taken it past 20 m yet, but on long dist events ive been on there seems to be a few with them on. when racing i prefer a bum bag if theres a chance to replenish on route although i do sometimes get a chaff/grazing on the lower back on really long runs .

I've been using a Berghaus Bladdered this year for longer runs (2 1/2 hours+), enough room for windproofs/hat/gloves (and even a waterproof at a push). Angled mesh pocket on the back can hold a fair amount of food and is fairly accessible. Only hassle is the very narrow conduit on the shoulder strap for the bladder tube, means that I either have to fill after threading the tube through or risk a leak as the valve gets squished.

sounds like the limpet i've been using .a couple of mesh pockets on the side or a map holder pocket of some sort would improve the bag alot.
