What a great day out: I really enjoyed the course and the marshalls were brilliant, really supportive and cheerful despite standing around in the drizzle all day. Those chunks of cheese at the final checkpoint were an inspired idea

I was one of those who had to downgrade to the short course after struggling in the tussock grass above Claerwyn for ages: I'll be back next year for revenge

    Thanks again all, top day.

Give my thanks to all involved in the organisation and cheerful manning of the well provisioned checkpoints in what can be best described as DAMP conditions (the cup of tea at checkpoint 5 was pure nectar).

    See you next year?
Cups of tea in the middle of these long runs are the bees knees. brill. Wish I lived closer too. (One day I'll get to do a welsh one!) Well done moley.

Hi Muddy a shot in the dark but the cider went down well when i got back to the van.

As to distance socks this event was well worth the 350 mile round trip.

If you live in Cumbria then you would have had a long way to go! I'm sure you're right -I've not done a bad LDWA event yet (and really don't think that is tempting fate!)

On the full 43 mile Montrail 'race' (survival?) route:
    35 Starters.
    22 Finished.
    13 DNF.

Cambrian tussuck grass obviously doesn't suit everyone .

    >JohnK Hehe very glad to hear it, and well deserved I had a couple of resorative pints also: finished the day off nicely.

Are you doing the Bullock Smithy in a couple of weeks? Maybe see you there if so.

Gosh, hadn't realised there were so many Forumites there - and the overall winner (by a huge margin) was zlod, but he seems to have ceased posting on the forum.

I went over on the spur of the moment as a couple of my club mates were running ( ) and offered my assitance to Moley, so found myself helping at checkpoints 1, 2 and 4 (I was in the purple jacket). What a fun day out - normally, when marshalling, there's no contact with the runners but here there was time to sit over tea and cake (I must have put on about 3kg ), discuss past races and future plans etc.

Well done Moley - hope the missing runners haven't caused too many nightmares - hope to see you at Pumlumon.

I had no idea that was Zlod, wish I had known. But at least I know to never, ever think I should go running with him

    Re: All LDWA events thread.

Ok here is another great upcoming LDWA event in cumbria this time.

Namely BOYDS KENDAL SKYLINE on sunday the 9th of september starting @ 0830 from Burneside Cricket club GR 503 954.

It is only the second year of this event and there is a choice of either 25 miles or 8.2 miles the 25 mile route takes you over Potter Fell, Benson Knott, The Helm, Scout scar and Cunswick Fell.

I did it last year as a walk with the missus and me dog, but i have done it several times since as a run and it is a good training run easily on a par with `Thats Lyth` for those of you familiar with that.

Check it out at :- www.morecambebayandbowland.homestead.com

See you there, hopefully i will be running it this year.
