    problems with orange wanadoo

ive been off line with my broadband for 2 1/2 weeks now and after zillions of calls to wanadoo im getting nowhere
    its a complete joke

    foreign call centre is unreal

im being just passed around and getting no answers at all , tech department, customer services, complaints the lot
i was told last week they had 26,000 UK customers off line that week

line checks, BT checks this and that
there must be someone else out there heard of this problem
THEY will not authorise a cancellation until 30 days have passed or its £120 to get out your contract

do not take out an internet contract with wanadoo/orange

    Try OFCOM's advise
    http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/internet/

A formal complaint via email/letter has to be processed and there is a paper trail, so to speak, you can then get OFCOM involved.

My internet was down for a day last week and I couldn't send emails for 3 days, BT refunded my call charges to tech support because they were crap and credited me 3 days internet costs because I couldn't use the full service. It's only a couple of quid but that's not the point!

Do you have a modem or a router (and if so what make)? How many PC's have you got connected - if it's more than 1 then you have a router. If so, can you connect to the router,

type 192.168.0.1 in the address bar in Internet explorer. (might be 192.168.1.1)

You can confirm the above address by typing in ipconfig from a dos window (click 'Start', 'Run', type 'Cmd' and click OK) and typing in 'ipconfig' The address you need is the 'Default gateway'. Still at the command prompt type in 'ping 192.168.1.1' (or whatever the default gateway is.) It should come back saying 'Reply from....'. If it says 'Request timed out'. then your router probably isn't working. If it says 'Reply from....', then it's probably a BT/Orange fault. (That bit depends on whether you're on an unbundled loop)

If not, reboot the PC and call Orange.....

ive been on the phone zillions of times and typed in every single differnt thing they have asked me
its simple from my end dom
i have a white box thats needs 3x lights to be on to connect to the internet , i pay £24.00 a month for that service and it hasnt been on since the 25th of last month ,
you cannot get an answer out of orange period, they cannot understand you , cannot pass you on to a manager, cannot put you through to complaints dept
basically if you have a problem your knackered
whats the put in trying anything when the box isnt on ?????????????

    Re: problems with orange wanad

checked with BT there is no fault

NOW dom please consider this theory of mine

i presume orange pay BT for the line yeah
ive told orange that i dont think they can afford to pay BT and that they are taking my direct debit , not paying BT for the time im offline and hoping that they will put me back on and i wont bother claiming compo
you do that to 24,000 lines and its a lot of money

    could i be right
