    Hydration Bladder Hygiene

Now that I have got round to getting one can someone suggest how best to keep clean? Do you just give the bladder a swill with hot water and try and get some hot water through the tube to clean or are there some good tips I could use? Cheers.

Quick swill out then into the freezer until the next time I need it. Otherwise you've got to let it dry out completely.

I'd give a wash out with a solution of Milton occasionally & as Slowcoach says roll it up & stick it in the freezer.
I've just decided I don't trust you anymore.

Similalry, several swills with hot water and let it drain through the tube. After 3 or 4 uses (or if I haven't been bothered to clean it), then a couple of Miltons tablets get thrown into a full bladder and left for a day. Then, it goes in the freezer.

If you want to completely air it out. Camelbak make a specific hanger which folds up and springs back open once through the neck of the bladder. They are designed so you can cut them down to modify to your specific bladder. You're best off removing the tube and Bite Valve also as these will harbour bacteria too.

Every now and again I fill mine up with hot-ish water, not boiling and drop a couple of Sterident denture cleansing tablets to leave for a few hours. Super markets often make their own brands in a tube of 30 for around £1.

After use, wash out and then chuck in the deep freeze. Little bugs don,t breed in the freezing cold, could you?!
