    The Screes Fell Race

I'm off to the lakes that weekend and not too far from Wasdale well about 50 minutes away and just wondered what its like as a race how runnable and steep it is and how hard is navigation on this one as the clag is bound to be down as it always is when I go to the lakes.

It's a nice race, a while since I've done it, bit of a chunk on the road, then a steep climb, I can't run it but I am useless, navigation not much of an issue. Excellent tattie hot pot at the finish.

I secretly don't mind running on the road so provided I'm not injured again I think I'll do it.

There is about a quarter of a mile of road at the start then a section of track before a fairly direct climb to the top of Whin Rigg. When you turn at the top dont go down the way you came up but follow the path to a junction with another path where you descend back to the road and then back to the pub.

The clag was down the first time i did it and i made the mistake of following the one in front who cut off way before the path junction and we had to climb most of the way back up to get on course. Excellent hot pot in the pub afterwards.

No you carry on past that. There is another path on my OS map about three quarters of a mile past Greathall Gill. I think that is the one. The path junction was marshalled when i did the race.

Cheers, I see the one you mean. Greatham looks a bit hairy to me!
