Running shoe report

i know this is a fell runninig forum but some of us have to run on the roads from time to time so with this in mind i was intrested to hear on the radio this morning that expensive running shoes offer no more protection than cheap ones.
I did not hear where the report originated from but it may be a University in Scotland.
By coincidence i was looking at a pair of New Balance road shoes in the MandM cat,ge for £19.99 last night ,i might buy them now !
If any one can find a copy of the report i would be interested to have a look.

Yes very interesting stuff. Seems i have been 'conned' by the fancy jargon. I wonder what the Tarahumara Indians(barfeoot / sandals made of old car tyres) make of this.

Odd it seems only to refer to cushioning, no mention of injuries caused by overpronation, maybe it's just a myth

The Institute of Motion Analysis and Research at the Niewalls Hospital and Medical School in Dundee has found what? That a seventy five quid trainer might not be better than a forty quid one? Who paid for that research?

It's a pity they aren't clever so they can do research into leukaemia.
