Thread: Manchester Area League XC

Danbert, most swimmers are measured on their 400m time, and not their mile time. If you can swim under 7 mins for 400m, youre doing well. Have a go and see what you can do, tumble turns optional!

I'm going to the Aqua Centre tomorrow so I'll have a stab at it and let you know Chaddy.

    10 minutes 03 secs Chaddy.

    but....i was in a 50 metre pool.

I know i could knock quite a bit off that with the extra push each turn would give in a 25 metre pool.

I'll give it a go in the North City 25 metre pool on Friday

Well done danbert, not bad an effort.
I presume you were doing front crawl all the way?

Front crawl all the way Chaddy but i can't do tumble turns.

The 50 metre pool at the Aqua Centre wasn't too crowded this morning and i was able to get a straight swim in without much time lost trying to overtake.

I must be honest you've really stimulated me with this. I know i can improve on 10m 03s

What's your best time and what are the really quick Manchester Tri lads able to do it in?

    Re: Manchester Area League XC

For 400m, my best is 5.55, although some of the top swimmers are knocking out sub 4.45.
Simple things to improve your time include:
-try and glide as long as possible through your stroke (no wind milling)
-try and breathe every 3/4 strokes
-no crossing of arms through the stroke
-keep your head as still as possible when swimming, and when breathing, try to keep half a goggle in the water

You should come down to one of the MTC sessions, there is a dedicated coach there specifically to improve you on your technique.

Thanks for results link Chaddy - even the league website doesn't have these up yet!!
I didn't realise we were THAT close - hopefully we'll both run a bit better in the next one!

Good turnout from Manchester Tri club Chaddy.

Don't know if you've done the maths yourself, but if you'd have run for Manchester Tri and not Sale, you'd have been a counter and perhaps pushed them further up the final team position too.
