If you have Wainwright's "Outlying Fells of Lakeland" he covers the route in reverse as a circular walk on the Dunnerdale Fells. For the millenium, the race was run that way round.

I've done that lovely Wainwright wander on a number of occasions, great for young kids (of all ages) as an introduction of bigger stuff to come.... highly recommended as is that particular AW mini tome... when my lads were wee nippers we used to plan quite a few adventures around the Lakes... using said book.

Only a couple of days to go, now, for this one. Hope my foot holds out - it'll be my first proper run since the relays. 46 mins last year - probably nearer 56 mins this year.

Is the Yorkshire Thug going to be there this year? I seem to remember seeing you there last year.

Bonfire & fireworks in the Duddon Valley afterwards - should be a good weekend. (Not forgetting beer in the Blacksmiths).

Any good campsites near by, or even a quiet layby to ditch a camper? Walking distance to a boozer essential!
