    Fells by Moonlight

Was anyone else mad enough, to make the most of the clear sky and fullmoon on Friday night?

I have to say I was scratching at the walls while having to work and all day I was really wishing to go out for a jaunt round the peaks, making the most of the crystal clear weather.

I eventually got myself out after the usual family duties at 8.30, meeting up with a mate at Newby, just planning to do Ingleborough. However up on the summit after admiring the far reaching views (even the bright lights of Manchester could be seen in the distance), we thought what the heck lets do another, so off we troddled and went up Penyghent as well. The moon was incredibly bright, headtorches where only used a couple of times, although there was lots of ice to watch out for. The slight wind made conditions almost perfect for an evening run and not unsurprisingly did we meet anyone else, getting back home a little later than planned at 11.30 - still you have got to do these things haven't you...?

The only regret is we should have planned things better and we could have done a fullmoon night time recce of the 3 Peaks... next time maybe!

7 of us were up on Ingleborough on Thursday night.
Headtorches not required under the moonlit sky - a splendid night.
Unfortunately, we didn't display your level of commitment and the Marton Arms exerted a stronger pull then Pen-y-Ghent.

Friday night was amazing running. Went up winter hill from belmont.

The moon was so bright that we didnt use head torches at all.

Great to hear other folk enjoying the same experience too.
