Three days walking in the Berwyns and 14 2000ft hills climbed. The main ridge was not in too bad a state, no evidence of dirt biking. However on a previous visit I went up Moel Fferma and offroaders had made a right mess of that.
Poor weather with snow on top - used my compass a fair bit. Best thing was I saw no one at all on the hills. Only about 35 Welsh 2000ft'ers to go. Black Mountains next - never been up them.

Hey Matt, if you need a walking guide/pal for the Black Mountains, let me know. Quite understand if its a solitary pursuit though.

Cheers Wheeze. Think I probably better put the visit on hold for a bit. On the whole I quite like doing big groups of hills on my own. I like the challenge of navigation, and the freedom of being on one's own. Have you ever done the Radnor Forest hills? They also have to be visited - though I hope I don't get shot or blown up doing them, with the firing range in the middle.
Berwyns were great, though off the main ridge there are very few paths and that heather is deep!

Radnor Forest hills are on my doorstep. You'll be fine if you follow the route in the Nutall's book, park in New Radnor and go anti-clockwise. It's very, very beautiful, but don't tell anyone
    ....it's all downhill from here.
